What I am actually paid

I am an affiliate. When you click through to a cam site from here and sign up, that site pays me a commission: usually a share of what you spend, sometimes a flat fee for the signup. It never changes what you pay, and there is no version of any of these sites that is cheaper or dearer for having come through me.

Every paid link on this site is marked sponsored and passes through /go/, which is a page that exists to be honest about the hop rather than to hide it. The referring article's slug is attached to the link, so I can tell which page earned a signup. That is the only thing I learn about you, and I learn it about the page rather than about you.

What it does not buy

The order. Every score on this site is mine, it was set before the link was attached, and nobody has ever paid to move one. There is no paid placement here, no "featured" slot, no sponsored row and no arrangement under which a platform can buy a review or ask for one to be changed. If that ever changes, this page changes with it, and the change will be dated.

The checkable version of that claim is the money itself. 8 of the 38 cam sites I cover pay me nothing at all, either because the programme is closed to me or because I have never applied. Here they all are: CamContacts, Chatrandom, Chatspin, FapChat, Flingster, LuckyCrush, Shagle and SoulCams. Every one has a review on this site, and not one of those reviews has a button on it, because there is nothing to send you to. That is the part you can check without taking my word for anything: open any of them and look for the button that is not there.

The one that is not a commission

There is a cam site on the other side of this one. datingcam.org shares an operator with camsite.org, and it is a white label of LiveJasmin: it has no performers of its own, and it rents the roster, the video and the billing from LiveJasmin. It has a row on the white label registry like every other brand of its kind, tested the same way and with the same artefacts quoted.

That is a heavier interest than any link on this site, and it is worth being precise about why. A commission is a share of what you spend after you click. This is a live business running on a platform rated 8.9 and place second in the ranking here. Its uptime is this operation's uptime and its reputation is partly this operation's asset, which is a reason to think well of it that has nothing to do with whether it deserves the score.

What I will not claim is that it makes no difference. The honest version is that it is the strongest reason on this site to read that particular review sceptically, so the review says so at the top rather than here at the bottom of a page most people never open. What I can offer instead of a promise is the working: the score is built from the same fields as every other, its checkout is one of the ones I have opened myself, and the coverage table shows exactly how much of it is verified and how much is not.

It is also the reason the registry page exists in the form it does. There are artefacts a white label cannot remove from its own markup without breaking the page, and knowing which ones came from operating one rather than from reading about it. The registry does not ask anybody to take that on trust: the test is written down, each row quotes the artefact it turned up and the date it was run, and anybody can run it again.

And the part that is uncomfortable

All 21 cam sites I rate pay me a commission. Every one of the 8 that do not is unrated, so not one of them is in the ranking.

That is not a filter. The rule that decides who can be ranked is one line long, it is alive and rated, and there is a test that fails the build if anybody adds a money clause to it. It is a coincidence with a boring cause: rating a platform means having spent real time and money on it, and the ones I have spent real time on are mostly the large ones, which mostly run open affiliate programmes.

But a coincidence is not evidence, and until today this site was citing it as evidence. Both the homepage and the footer said "several platforms rated here pay me nothing at all". Counting it returned zero. That sentence had been on every page here, it was the single most disarming thing the site said about itself, and it was not true.

What would make it a real problem rather than an accounting one is a rated cam site being left unranked because it pays nothing, or an unpaid one going unrated because rating it would be work with no money at the end. If you want to watch for the second, the list of eleven above is where it would show up, and the coverage table shows exactly how much work each of them has had.

Why being right costs me almost nothing

This is the part nobody in this business writes down, and it is the reason a site like this can exist at all. The commission is roughly the same across the big networks. A signup on the platform I rate ninth is worth about what a signup on the platform I rate first is worth, so there is no extra money in recommending the wrong one.

Which means that nobody in this niche competes on being right, because there is no premium for it. It also means being right is nearly free for me. I am not resisting a temptation when I put an unpaid platform above a paid one. There is barely a temptation to resist. I would rather you knew that than believed I was unusually principled.

The temptation that does exist is different and worth naming: it is to fill in a price I have not checked, because a complete table converts better than one with holes in it. That is the one this site is actually built against, and the record of me losing to it is on the corrections page.

Where to check any of this

• –What I have verified. Every cam site, every pricing field, the date it was checked and the gaps named rather than filled in. The ranking and the money are both in that table, side by side, so you can see for yourself that they do not track each other.
• –Corrections. Every figure I published and took back, what it claimed, and what would bring it back.
• –Which cam sites are the same cam site. The brands that are rebadged front ends of other brands. Reviewing both halves of one platform and collecting a commission twice is the standard practice in this niche; this page is what refusing it looks like.
• –The reviews. All of them, ordered by my score, with the unpaid ones in among the paid ones.

When this page changes

Every arrangement described above is dated, and this page is rewritten when one of them moves rather than quietly amended. A new affiliate programme, a platform that closes its programme, a rated site that starts paying: each of those changes the counts on this page, and the counts are computed from the same data files the reviews are built from, so they cannot drift from what the rest of the site says.

The one thing that would be a real failure is a figure appearing here with no date on it. Every price on camsite.org carries the date it was read and the checkout it was read from, or it is marked as unread; there is no third state, and the build refuses a page that tries to invent one.
