CAM4 Review: What a $2 Fee Does to the Ladder

Every CAM4 top-up tier is priced per token on the package comparison.

This was the first cam site I ever used, back around the year CAM4 launched, so treat everything below as the opinion of somebody who is not neutral about it. The declaration matters more here than the anecdote does: a review written by a long-standing user of the platform is worth reading with that fact attached, and worth discounting accordingly.

The score is 7.8: a good site with a specific problem, and the problem is a flat fee that punishes small purchases rather than the platform.

Four categories, not one category and three filter tabs

The roster is the reason to be here. Females, males, trans and couples are four equal categories rather than one category and three filter tabs, and the trans and couples sections are populated at any hour rather than being a courtesy. Almost nothing else at this size is built that way. Most of the performers are amateurs broadcasting from home, the opposite end of the market from LiveJasmin and its studio lighting, and whether that is a feature depends entirely on what you came for.

It is strongest in Europe, in France, Italy and Spain especially, and it carries 44 language translations, more than any competitor I know of. If you are browsing from outside the English-speaking market, that is a real difference rather than a specification.

The interface is the weak half and has been for years. It was dated when I wrote about it in 2022 and nothing since has changed my mind. The filters do work: gender, country, language and tags, and you can save a filter set to the account and reuse it, which sounds minor until you have rebuilt the same search twenty times somewhere else. Room thumbnails carry icons for HD and for toy integration, so you can see what a room supports before opening it.

Free chat is real, and not a trailer for the private. You can watch, type and ask for things without a card on the account, and I spent years on this site without paying it anything. There are no ads and no redirects, apart from two links in the menu bar labelled “local dates” and “porn games” that go somewhere worse than here.

There is no document check to sign up. Email and a password, confirmed from your inbox. Lovense toy control is available in most rooms. Cam4 Radio and the happy hour show are the two things my 2022 review calls exclusive to the platform, and I mention them because they are the only two I have never seen a white-label copy of.

Billing shows as Granity-TLE.com or SEGPAY, neither of which is a name that says what it was for.

What I cannot tell you is what any of this feels like today. I have not spent an evening in these rooms since 2022, and the paragraphs above describe a site I knew well four years ago rather than one I opened this week.

What the $2.00 fee does to the ladder

CAM4 adds $2.00 to every card and PayPal purchase, and nothing to crypto. I read it at CAM4’s own token page with an account on 13 September 2026, on all three rails, and the fee decides the shape of everything below it.

Here is the ladder, per token, with the fee counted:

On the smallest card purchase the fee is a sixth of what you are charged: $11.95 for 50 tokens, or 23.9 cents a token. On the largest it is a rounding: $174.95 for 1,000, or 17.5 cents. So every rail gets cheaper as you spend more, and the 50-token package costs 37% more per token than the 1,000 does.

The arithmetic that punishes you here is buying small and often. Buy CAM4’s largest package once and you pay $174.95 for 1,000 tokens. Buy the 100-token package ten times and you pay $209.90 for the same 1,000, because you paid the fee ten times. The small packages cost $34.95 more for nothing. That is 20% over the odds for topping up as you go.

Card is the cheapest rail at every price. PayPal charges the same prices and the same fee for ten per cent fewer tokens. Crypto carries no fee and sells PayPal’s token counts for $2.00 more than the PayPal button, which is exactly what PayPal costs once its fee is added: the two rails cost the same per token, 19.44 cents at the largest tier, about 11% dearer than card. The calculator on this site never mixes rails in one basket.

This page and the data used to carry a different ladder, with more tokens on four of its five rungs and no fee in the price. Those counts included a first-purchase bonus. CAM4 does run one, 15% extra tokens on a first token purchase, and it is shown on every rail. A second purchase gets the standing ladder above. The earlier figures are on corrections.

The private rate is set by each performer and CAM4’s own support pages decline to publish a range. A first-party refusal rather than a gap in my reading, and it means there is no CAM4 private rate for me to put in front of you. Two third-party sources quote figures that differ by a factor of three: one says 12 to 36 tokens a minute, the other 5 to 10. At the best price on the card ladder, 17.5 cents a token, that is $2.10–$6.30 a minute against $0.88–$1.75, and the smallest card tier puts 37% on both. Picking either would move CAM4 from one end of my cost ranking to the other, decided by which page I chose to believe, so I have recorded neither and CAM4 is absent from the homepage calculator for that reason and no other.

Cam2cam is the one bright spot in a section with no figures in it. My 2022 review says private shows here usually carry no extra charge for cam2cam, and CAM4’s broadcaster documentation is consistent with that being possible. It is also consistent with two other things, that cam2cam runs at 1.25 to 1.5 times the private rate and that it defaults to double, because that documentation says all three in different places. So it is unpriced on this site and I would go in expecting to be charged.

The Gold membership is $19.99 a month and includes a one-off 100-token bonus, a subscription perk rather than a top-up offer. The first-purchase offer is the 15% above.

The one number CAM4 will not publish

The private rate, and the one that matters. Not a gap in the research: CAM4 declines to publish a range and the rate is genuinely per-room, so the only honest fix is a sample. Twenty or more rooms taken off the default grid, rates recorded, percentiles published with the count and the date attached. The rate is visible on each room tile, so this needs a browser and an afternoon rather than an account.

The package tiers are no longer on this list. They and the $2.00 fee were read at the logged-in token page, and the ladders this page carried before that reading are on corrections.

The cam2cam surcharge and the spy rate. Both unpublished. The two sources that quote a spy figure appear to copy each other, and one of them reproduced the nine package tiers this file once held. Two pages agreeing because one read the other is not corroboration.

The claims I took back

The free tokens

This page used to promise you free tokens for signing up through it, and that promise was never true, so it is the more serious of the two retractions on this page. It appeared four times, twice naming 50 tokens, twice not, once as a button, and the price list annotated four of its five tiers ”+ (50 free tokens)” on top of that. The most explicit of them read: “click the links on this article or the picture below and get your free 50 Cam4 tokens now”.

What makes it wrong when written rather than out of date is its own condition. Every version of it made the tokens a consequence of clicking my links, and there has never been an arrangement between this site and CAM4 under which my links deliver anybody anything. Nothing about CAM4 could have changed to make that true. It is a fact about a relationship that did not exist, and no version of 2022 makes the sentence true.

Whether CAM4 itself was running a 50-token promotion back then I do not know and am not going to claim either way. It would not rescue the sentence, because the sentence was not about CAM4’s promotion.

The first-purchase offer that does exist is CAM4’s own, 15% extra tokens, shown to every account and owing nothing to this page. What is free is public chat, with no card on the account, and that part I will stand behind. The only paid perk carrying a token grant is the Gold membership at $19.99 a month, which includes a one-time 100 tokens. Bought and paid for rather than given away.

I attack other sites for exactly this, on this exact page. Promising a reader something free that does not exist is the specific thing this site exists to be the opposite of, and I did it four times.

The crypto saving

Until 6 August 2026 this page also said, in my own words:

Paying with crypto will save you some money if you decide to pay for private shows and Cam2Cam and tipping.

It is not supportable and I have withdrawn it. The crypto ladder read at CAM4’s token page costs more per token than the card ladder at every size: 19.44 cents against 17.5 at the largest tier, and $174.95 buys 900 tokens on crypto or 1,000 on a card with the fee paid. The same money for fewer tokens.

The sentence was also confused about its own mechanism. Privates, cam2cam and tips are all priced in tokens once you hold them. A payment rail cannot make them cheaper except by making tokens cheaper, so what I wrote as three savings was ever only one, and it points the wrong way.

When this retraction was first written the crypto tiers came off third-party pages, so I declined to announce the reverse as a finding. Both rails have now been read at CAM4’s own token page, and the reverse holds: crypto is dearer per token than card, and costs exactly what PayPal costs once PayPal’s fee is added.

Whether it was true in 2022 I genuinely cannot say, and that is recorded rather than resolved. My review of that date priced only the card rail, so there is no crypto figure from the period to hold it against. The 13 September 2026 reading settles what is true today. Nothing will settle what was true then. This one sits on the corrections page with the rest of them, and with the reading that would close it.

Come for the roster, and know what it costs you

Buy here if the roster is what you are shopping for. If you want trans performers, couples, or men, CAM4 has a deeper and more active bench than anything else at this price. It is the one thing here I would recommend without qualification. The same goes for browsing outside English. Free chat is generous enough that you can spend an evening finding out whether the site suits you before spending anything.

Buy here if you are willing to buy once, and big, on a card. The 1,000-token tier at 17.5 cents a token is the best price CAM4 has. Every smaller purchase pays the $2.00 fee again.

Wrong platform if you need to know what a private costs before you open the room. This is the real disqualifier, and not a small one. MyFreeCams charges a flat 60 tokens a minute in every room, one published number that does not move between performers. Streamate bills in dollars per minute with no wallet at all, so there is no conversion to do and nothing stranded in an account afterwards. Either is a better fit if a budget is the thing you are working to.

Go elsewhere if you top up in small amounts. Stripchat is one of the ladders I have read at its own logged-in checkout, and its smallest card tier, 45 tokens for $4.99, is $0.1109 a token with no fee recorded against it. CAM4’s smallest is $0.2390.

Give it a miss if the interface matters to you. It is dated, it knows it is dated, and LiveJasmin on a phone is a different class of product.
