Chatmate Review: A Streamate Skin

The short version on price: $50 on Chatmate buys 10 min of private at $4.99/min, and you can change the budget in the token calculator.

Two facts decide whether this page is worth your time, and I would rather lead with both than bury either.

Chatmate is not its own cam site. It is a front end on Streamate’s roster, which I tested rather than assumed, and the test is on my white label registry with the strings that prove it.

And the one published price for a private show here comes from a single article that contradicts itself two paragraphs apart. I have recorded the half of it that survives, marked it as disputed everywhere it appears, and I am not going to pretend that is the same thing as knowing.

What it actually is

You land on a matching screen rather than a grid. Set what you are after, and it puts you in front of a live performer instead of asking you to browse two thousand thumbnails. If that sounds like Jerkmate, it is: both are matchmaking wrappers on the same catalogue, built by the same parent, and the difference between them is the game on the front rather than anything behind it.

That has one honest advantage and one honest cost. The advantage is speed, real enough if browsing is the part you do not enjoy. The cost is that a second account here does not widen your choice by a single person, because the people were never Chatmate’s.

How I know it is a skin

I opened the front page with a browser and read the markup it sent back.

The application it loads comes from streamate.icfcdn.com, and the bundle has the same name and the same content hash as the one streamate.com loads. Two sites running the identical build of the identical software are one site with two doors.

Its own logo is served from nsimg.net/3.0/auto/skin/24213/. Streamate’s logo comes off the same host from nsimg.net/3.0/auto/skin/sm/. Chatmate is skin number 24213 on a machine whose house skin is called sm.

The video client is hybridclient.naiadsystems.com. Naiad Systems is ICF Technology, which operates Streamate.

None of that is hidden and none of it is an accusation. Running a white label is an ordinary business. It matters here because you are deciding where to spend, and the answer to “should I try this one as well” is that there is no as well.

The price, and why it carries a mark everywhere

The currency is called GOLD, and one GOLD is one dollar. Two independent sources confirm it, and nothing else about the platform’s pricing comes close: there is no exchange rate to work out and no ladder to decode, which puts it in a very short list on this site.

The rate for a private is where it falls apart. One article states $4.99 a minute for a one to one, and $9.99 a minute for what it calls an exclusive private. The same article, in the same piece, says Chatmate charges $4.99 for 50 tokens. Those two claims cannot both be true against a dollar-pegged GOLD, because the second one implies about ten cents a unit.

So at least one published figure about this platform is wrong, and I cannot yet tell you which. I record the per-minute number, because it is stated plainly and framed against the dearer tier, and I do not record the token pack at all, because it contradicts a peg that a second source states outright. Every place that figure appears on this site, it carries the mark that says sources do not agree.

What a Streamate front end still does not tell me

There are no published GOLD tiers anywhere I could reach, so I cannot tell you whether buying more is cheaper, and if there is a volume discount it is invisible here.

I do not know whether free chat exists in any useful sense. The one source says previews do not last long and that a card check opens the tour rooms, and that is not the same claim as unmetered free chat, so the field stays empty rather than guessed.

I do not know whether performers set their own rate. If they do, then the flat $4.99 is wrong in shape as well as in value, and that is the thing a sample would settle first.

I have not opened a checkout here. Until somebody does, everything above is one source and a disputed one.

Should you use it

If the matching screen is the thing you want, yes, and Jerkmate is the same idea with more people playing it and a rate I have also not confirmed. If what you want is the roster, go to Streamate and skip the wrapper, because that is where the performers are and its pricing is the better documented of the two.

If you want a room you can sit in without spending anything first, neither of these is your answer and Chaturbate is.
